So I've got an easy week this week as college is closed Wednesday and Thursday due to strike action and another reason I can't remember (it's also closed next Wednesday and Thursday as well for another reason I also can't remember). So yeah I'm probably going to spend this my new mid-week weekend teaching my girlfriend how to play Mass Effect and probably some Magicka as well. Mostly because they're both awesome games.
As to stuff that's happened since my last post, well I went out on the weekend and got hammered but that's usual for a teenager so it's kinda expected also had a movie night as well which went pretty well. Been having trouble sleeping the past couple nights as well, my cat kept me company though so at least I wasn't bored. Speaking of my cat she's been acting weird recently, well weirder, she's been staring off into space a lot more and refusing to leave my side after dark. Not that I'm complaining about her not leaving me alone as she usually only comes over to let me know she's awake when I get back from college, though that is more than my parents get.
Anyway that's my post done for now, I'll post again hopefully within the rest of the week but don't count on it.

College
So yeah, sorry to the 30 or so people who have looked at this blog since I made it (I'm actually pretty impressed there are that many of you), I'm back to college for another 3 weeks so life has been dull and really annoying to get back into a routine that isn't wake up at mid-day/1pm and go to bed at 4am or so. The first couple days back haven't been so bad though I didn't realise how many of my college mates were second years and have left to go get a job/apply to uni.
New stuff that's happened is I got a new Computing teacher, guy name Danny. He seems pretty cool but then so did my teacher from last year and he turned out to be pretty evil and annoying. My other 3 teachers are the same though so they don't need to spend a lesson trying to convince us they're cool and friendly, by this point we know if they are or not...at least we should do a couple still don't.
Oh and I have a camera! So expect pictures of random crap like parties and other stuff that happens once I figure out how to upload and host some pics. They'll probably just be me and some mates chilling out or at a party. I might be doing AS Photography next year so I might run some of the test pictures through here first if I can be bothered.
Anyway that's been my week so far, more or less, and I'll post again...some point.

The Weekend
So it was my mates birthday this weekend and a huge house party was enjoyed by all, lots of drinking and less legal activities were present. The cops turned up sadly but they only stopped us going out the front of the house unless we were leaving or waiting for a cab, so it wasn't too bad. The less than legal activities were done a lot more subtly when they were around as you can imagine.
I'd say there was about 50-100 of us in total and amazingly enough only 4 people threw up though one of those 4 was another mate of mine so I spent some time looking after him and making sure he wasn't too fucked up. I tried getting the help of the only other guy in the garden but he just stood there and didn't seem to acknowledge me at all. Not sure if he didn't hear me or was just really fucked up though so I left him. Thankfully he was mostly fine and just needed to see his girlfriend and chill some place that wasn't outside in the rain (typical British weather). Anyway he was fine after a bit so I fucked off and got more wasted. I also managed to acquire about £20 of illicit substances for free thanks to a scatty dealer who was almost out of stuff anyway.
So all in all a pretty good night/morning.

Random Crap I Like
Okay then, I'm bored and can't sleep so I'm going to link to stuff I enjoy on the net and give a quick description of what it's about.
First up is every ones favourite game critic Yahtzee (http://www.escapistmagazine.com/videos/view/zero-punctuation). Now Yahtzee 'reviews' games and by that I mean he rips the shit out of them and focuses on what went wrong, he also goes off on tangents which can be pretty funny. Yeah I know the mini description is crap but if you really want to know check him out yourself, this also applies to everything I link you to. Oh and before I forget he updates on Wednesdays.
Next up are Extra Credits (http://www.escapistmagazine.com/videos/view/extra-credits). These guys look at video gaming in general and how mechanics or aspects of it can be improved and why certain bits of it go wrong. Along with being entertaining they are generally pretty informative as well so it's not just another waste of time as you may actually learn something. Updates Thursdays.
Also on the Escapist (noticing a pattern yet?) is The Big Picture with Movie Bob (http://www.escapistmagazine.com/videos/view/the-big-picture). Movie Bob also does Escape to the Movies (http://www.escapistmagazine.com/videos/view/escape-to-the-movies), now in The Big Picture he looks at all things geek and is again pretty informative if you aren't too familiar with that weeks subject, for example I learnt about H.E.A.T (Hal's Emerald Attack Team) in last weeks episode. Escape to the Movies is movie reviews and the such, expect lots of mocking if he doesn't like it and lots of praise if he does with very little mention of its flaws. The Big Picture updates Tuesdays and Escape to the Movies updates Fridays.
Another one from the Escapist is Unskippable (http://www.escapistmagazine.com/videos/view/unskippable). Not much to explain with these guys, they watch the opening cut scene of a game and mock it. Pretty funny stuff and they update Mondays.
Well there's your daily dose of videos from the Escapist but it wouldn't really be fair just to give their links out I'm pretty sure they get enough traffic as it is, not that I'd add much but I seem to have a few visitors already, so here's some webcomics.
On the comic front we have Questionable Content (http://questionablecontent.net/) which is a slice of life comic with a group of mates and some robots. Got quite a bit of plot while still remaining light and funny (well most of the time) and the art style still hasn't settled yet. Oh yeah and at almost 2000 pages you might have the urge to Archive Binge, go ahead but you can pick up at any point at least I did but that was about 500 pages ago. Updates Monday-Friday
Another one is XKCD (http://xkcd.com/) a geeky webcomic that makes a a lot of science or math based jokes along with a few based no real plot tough it does have recurring characters and the occasional multi-part story arc. Updates Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.
Finally on the webcomic front Cyanide and Happiness (http://www.explosm.net/comics/2455/). 4 artists doing short strips that generally result in one of the cast dead or injured. Lots of dead baby style jokes so be warned. Updates daily.
Along with those here's a couple sites to keep you interested as well. First up Reddit (redd.it) it has pretty much everything you could ever want. Just make an account edit your subscriptions to various sub-reddits and enjoy.
Next up is Tvtropes (Tvtropes.org). This thing will take over your life, search for a show/game/movie/ect. you like and read the artical it gives you. Now resist opening any tabs to find out what they mean, go on I dare you, done it? Thought not that's why it will take over your life as you open more articals there will be more links to click until eventually it's 8 hours later and you have 100 tabs open...not that I know from experience or anything.
Finally is Drunken Moogle (http://www.thedrunkenmoogle.com/), essentially it's a bunch of gaming based cocktails and drinking games. Enjoy it and try them out they're very nice, updates are a tad haphazard though.
And that's it folks, it's taken me about 2 hours to type this out and I can't be bothered to re-read it for spelling errors and the such so I apologise if there are any. Any way it's kept me occupied, didn't help with getting to sleep but oh well.

Afternoon Internet

Okay so hello to anyone reading this, which is probably just me to be fair. Any way I decided to start up a blog, not too sure why but whatever. My name is Umbra, well as far as your concerned it's Umbra at least, no way am I putting my real name on the net. I'm a gamer and will probably be updating this with random crap that I do in the day. I'm off college till Monday so you'll probably just get what games I played that day and maybe a drunken post. Once I start college again I'll probably post anything cool that happens there.
